About The AniManga Podcast
The AniManga Podcast started out as an outlet for frustrated closet anime fan Jammer, but over time has slowly become a big part of his life. Originally known as Jammer's AniMovie Blog, it was a small site for film and anime news and reviews. Soon after in early 2010, it changed in the form of Jammer's AniMovie Podcast, where Jammer, Matt, and Christina (along with guests) would discuss anime news, and new movies as they hit the box office.
However over time, Jammer had decided it best to focus it more. It would take awhile before any real action was taken. After the earthquakes in Japan, and the Anime Fans Give Back to Japan fundraiser, Jammer and his new co-host Dominic were inspired to officially rebrand the podcast as The AniManga Podcast.
Now a pleasant mixture of anime news, reviews, discussion, and general bullshitting, the podcast has finally taken a life of its own.
STAFF
Jammer (Real name: Joseph Medina) - Founder of The AniManga Podcast. Jammer has had various odd jobs and internships within the film, anime, and manga business, some of which continue to this day. In May of 2010, he graduated from Chapman University's Dodge College of Film and Media Arts with a degree in screenwriting. Because of this, you may notice a certain tone of frustration with elements in stories that contribute nothing to the overall plot (i.e. fanservice). All the same, since the heyday of Pokemon and Dragonball Z, anime has been a huge part of his life...even if he's spent the better part trying to hide this closet addiction from the masses.
Dominic (AKA Pwngoatjunkie) - Co-host of The AniManga Podcast and contributing anime reviewer. This spritely young fellow had not-so-humble beginnings as a regular contributor to the Unofficial One Piece Podcast. While still a part of the One Piece Podcast, Dominic has not been content to remain a simple podcasting contributor. As a reviewer, he hopes his words will reach readers far and wide and eventually make a lasting impact upon the anime world.
Matt Sullivan - Filmmaker and one of the lead contributors to Jammer's AniMovie Podcast (before it turned into The AniManga Podcast). He usually contributes whenever there is a film episode. Also a graduate from Chapman University's Dodge College of Film and Media arts, he has a vast amount of knowledge in film, especially in the more arthouse and LA-only releases. You can find his personal site here.
Christina Marie - Another Filmmaker and graduate of Chapman University and former contributor to the film aspect of Jammer's AniMovie Podcast. Her tastes skew to the more mainstream than the rest of the staff, and as such, she gives a more balanced view to films that are discussed on the show. She has her own blog here.
GUESTS
Mike (AKA Doctor) - One of the most frequent guests, he is one of the founders and hosts of his very own Ass Backwards Anime Podcast. Ever the experimental fellow, he will rarely let his preconceived notions of a series overshadow its quality. He has been a guest many times since the very first episode of the podcast, and has always been an invaluable supporter from the site's early days all the way to the present.
Mikey D. Pirate - The other frequent guest on the podcast, Mikey is the founder of the One Piece at a Time Blog, a blog dedicated to "all that is One Piece." He's great at coming up with ideas and has often gone to Jammer and planted podcast ideas into the deepest crevices of his brain, without which, many episodes would not exist. Also a great supporter of the blog from the beginning, Mikey has been a great part of Jammer's AniMovie Blog's evolution.
Daniella Orihuela-Gruber - Freelance manga editor for various publishing companies (mainly Tokyopop) and the founder of her own All About Manga blog. She has a great amount of knowledge in the publishing arena and is an always-welcome guest whenever a manga discussion will ensue.
Sam Kusek - Former reviewer for Pop Culture Shock's Manga Recon and manga afficionado. He is the other go-to person for manga discussions in the podcast. He currently runs a new blog called A Life in Panels where he not only explores manga, but American comics as well.
Zach Logan - Founder of the Unofficial One Piece Podcast, Zach has helped to centralize and unite the One Piece fandom and give it a voice. He has a vast amount of experience dealing in the anime community and continues to immerse himself in that community on a daily basis.
